Materials and Care Guide for Mouth-Blown Borosilicate Glass

Materials:
Our mouth-blown glass is made from borosilicate glass (WARNING - Cheaper imitations may be made of Soda glass which does not have the same properties and is not dishwasher safe) is renowned for its durability, clarity, and resistance to thermal shock. Borosilicate glass contains silica and boron trioxide, which impart exceptional heat resistance and make it less susceptible to expansion under temperature changes compared to traditional soda-lime glass. This material is commonly used for laboratory glassware and high-quality kitchenware due to its ability to withstand rapid temperature fluctuations without shattering.

Care Instructions:
1. Handling: Handle mouth-blown borosilicate glass with care. Although durable, avoid dropping or subjecting it to sudden impacts, as this can still cause breakage despite its resilience. Do not place ice cubes in prior to liquid, as this can result in damage to the glassware.

2. Cleaning: Dishwasher safe due to the fact borosilicate glass can withstand higher temperatures. If you prefer to wash by hand use warm, soapy water and a soft cloth or sponge. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scrubbers that could scratch the glass. For hard-to-reach areas, use a bottle brush with soft bristles.

3. Temperature: While borosilicate glass is highly resistant to thermal shock, avoid extreme temperature changes. For example, do not pour boiling water into a cold glass or place a hot glass directly onto a cold surface, as this can still stress the glass and potentially cause breakage over time.

4. Storage: Store your borosilicate glassware in a secure place where it won’t be knocked over or exposed to unnecessary pressure. Consider using padded shelves or cabinets to prevent accidental damage.

5. Microwave and Oven Use: Borosilicate glass in general is microwave and oven-safe; however due to the thickness of our glassware we advise you not to place in the oven. Avoid placing directly from extreme cold to extreme heat or vice versa.

6. Avoid Freezing: Do not freeze borosilicate glass. While it can withstand low temperatures better than regular glass, rapid and extreme changes can still compromise its integrity.

7. Staining: Borosilicate glass is resistant to stains and odours, making it suitable for a wide range of beverages and foods. However, clean promptly after use to maintain its pristine appearance.

Care Guide for Ceramics

Each FAZEEK piece is unique and made from the highest quality ceramic. 

1. Cleaning: Our ceramics are dishwasher safe. If you prefer to wash by hand use warm, soapy water and a soft cloth or sponge. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scrubbers that could scratch the ceramics.

4. Storage: Easily stacked for storage.

5. Microwave and Oven Use: Ceramic platters and plates are microwave and oven-safe. Avoid placing directly from extreme cold to extreme heat or vice versa. Reminder; please be careful when removing hot ceramics from the microwave and oven.

Care Guide for Candles

FAZEEK Wave Candles are individually hand-poured in our Northcote, Melbourne studio. They are made from pure 100% natural soy wax with a cotton braided lead-free wick. Our Wave Candles are housed in our unique borosilicate glass holders.

The first time that you light a Wave Candle, we suggest leaving it to burn until a full wax pool forms on the top. This will set the ‘memory’ for your candle so that each burn thereafter will be even.

Never leave a burning candle unattended and keep away from small children, draughts and flammable items, and always burn your candle on an even, heat-resistant surface.

Trim your wick to 5mm before each burn to ensure a cleaner, mess-free burn. Never burn for more than 3 hours at a time and discontinue use once 1.5cm of wax remains.

The Wave Candle holder can then be reused…we love them as holders for pens + pencils, make-up brushes, or utensils!

Care Guide for Essential Oils and Oil Burners

Our Oil Burners are made from high quality borosilicate glass. To use the oil burner, simply fill the circular vessel three-quarters high with water and add 8 - 10 drops of your favourite FAZEEK essential oil. Light your tealight candle underneath and enjoy.

Our Essential Oils are blended in our Fitzroy North, Melbourne studio. We only use 100% natural essential oils.

Always ensure the oil burner water vessel is three quarters full. This water will evaporate over time so ensure you top it up! Do not move or touch the water vessel once the candle has been lit as it will become hot.

Always use your oil burner on a flat, heat-proof surface. Never use more than the recommended amount of pure essential oils.

Our Essential Oils are not for use on the skin, clothing or in food preparation. Do not ingest. Keep away from small children, draughts and flammable objects.

Our glassware is dishwasher safe but we recommend showing it the love it deserves by washing by hand.
